Wimbledon: Sania Mirza-Mate Pavic reaches mixed doubles semi-finals

Indians Sania Mirza and Mate Pavic of Croatia defeated fourth seed Gabriela Dabrowski and John Peers to reach the Wimbledon mixed doubles semi-finals. The sixth-seeded Indo-Croatian won 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in a close battle on Court 3. Sania, playing her last Wimbledon, reached the mixed doubles semi-finals at Wimbledon for the first time in his career. . Sania’s prodigious forehand was once again on point, her powerful shots causing all sorts of problems for her opponents.
Sania and Pavic will now face the winner of the other quarter-final between second seeds Desirae Krawczyk-Neal Skupski and Jelena Ostapenko-Robert Farah, the tournament’s seventh seed.
Sania also entered the women’s doubles draw, but she and her Czech partner Lucie Hradecka were ousted in the first round, losing 6-4, 4-6, 2-6 to Magdalena Frech and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Earlier, the sixth-seeded pair of Sania and Pavic reached the mixed doubles quarter-finals after their second-round opponents Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan gave a knockdown.
Sania and Pavic beat Spaniard David Vega Hernandez and Georgian Natela Dzalamidze 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (3) in the first round.
Sania has already announced her retirement at the end of this season.
