In singles action, top seed Tyne Ross shut out Lady Raider opponent Hanna Oki 8-0, and No. 2 Lily Slyman also shut out Neely Turner. Union Pines also picked up a fairly easy win at No. 3, where Abby Robertson beat Addison Massey 8-3, but then it got interesting.

In singles No. 4, Hannah Smith of the Lady Raiders took the game to an extra game and outlasted Madelyn Ragsdale 9-7 to put the visitors on the board. By then, No. 5 seed Kinsley Creel had already beaten Maren Carter of Richmond 8-2, but there would be no team victory for Union Pines in singles action. At the bottom of the order, Ashlyn Bouldin of Richmond held off Saeda Yoxtheimer 8-6 to make it 4-2.

Predictably, Ross and Slyman took care of business in Doubles Match #1, beating Oki and Turner 8-3, and Union Pines took the win. However, Richmond’s Boudin and Savannah Jordan picked up a solid 8-3 No. 3 doubles win over Creel and Yoxtheimer. The No. 2 double was a barn burner who went to a tiebreaker before Robertson and Ragsdale of the Lady Vikings beat Massey and Smith 9-8 (7-4).

Ross who won his 58th career game on the night. Union Pines travels to Hoke County today.
