For starters, Novak Djokovic insists he remains passionate about competing at the highest level with the Serbian star who will compete at the Tel Aviv Open this week.

Although arch-rival Federer will call it a day, world number seven Djokovic is still eager to compete at the highest level. “I still want to play tennis even though I’ve achieved pretty much everything you can achieve in tennis,” Djokovic said. “I still have the passion and the thirst to play at the highest professional level.”

In other tennis news, Hyeon Chung has finally returned to the ATP Tour after a two-year absence with a back injury.

The South Korean hadn’t competed professionally since French Open qualifying in September 2020. During his pre-tournament press conference, he admitted he was relieved to be back on the court.

“It took me a long time to get back on the court after my rehabilitation, but I feel good because I can get back on the court. No matter the result, I will do my best,” Chung told reporters.

Moreover, Casper Ruud has admitted to being inspired by playing a part in Roger Federer’s farewell event last week.

Ruud, who made the US Open final this month, was honored to be alongside such a company for Federer’s final event before his retirement.

“I was lucky to be able to be part of the team. I learned a lot from this experience,” the Norwegian told reporters at the Korea Open.

“It’s inspiring to see that they have the motivation to keep going and are looking forward to playing and enjoying each other’s company.”
