Spring 2022 men’s tennis schedule announced and fall results
MURFRESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Men’s Tennis Head Coach jimmy boredame announced the spring 2022 schedule on Thursday.
The 28-game spring slate will begin on January 17 and run through April 16. From there, the team will travel to Norfolk, Virginia to compete in the Conference USA tournament where the Blue Raiders are the back-to-back conference champions.
Borendame and his team will start the first four matches of the season at the Adams Tennis Complex, starting with our C-USA opponent Southern Miss and ending with Butler.
After the home stand, the team will hit the road for three consecutive games against Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and an opponent TBD at ITA’s kickoff weekend in Charlottesville, Va.
Once the team returns from its outside stand, it will bounce back from Murfreesboro to our opponents, taking on six power-five opponents at Louisville, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Auburn and Michigan State in seven games.
“This year’s schedule is full of tough matches,” Borendame said, “17 of the 21 dates on our schedule we will face an opponent in the ITA Top 75. There are 15 potential five-power opponents, who will define prepare us for a great opportunity in a national ranking.”
The team will then hit the road for a five-game road trip, with stops in Montgomery, Alabama for the Blue Gray Championship and road games in Oklahoma State and South Florida.
Of the next seven games, the Blue Raiders will play five at home and encourage fans to pack the Adams Tennis Complex. Fans will take part in promotional events at most home games, these must be announced.
“We have a number of great home games at Adams Tennis Complex. Really get our fanbase back at games, we’ve done an amazing job using our seventh man, our fans and our loyal supporters,” Borendame said.
Middle Tennessee men’s tennis will have a fight with Lone Star State schools at the end of March, hitting the road to take on SMU in Dallas and foe C-USA Rice in Houston. The team will return to Murfreesboro to take on Texas Tech at ATC.
Rounding out the regular season schedule, the Blue Raiders will play a double game at home against Memphis and Alabama A&M before traveling to Wichita, Kansas to face the Shockers and Tulsa who both finished the previous season in the Top 75 of the ITA.
The Blue Raiders will end the regular season hosting five power-five teams in Murfreesboro, which is a record-breaking schedule. Middle Tennessee will next look to defend their back-to-back C-USA titles April 22-24 in Norfolk, Va.
