For starters, Simona Halep underwent nose surgery after the US Open in a bid to ease breathing difficulties that worsened over the summer.

Now Halep has announced that she will need time off the pitch to recover from a procedure to help her realize her physical potential and restore her overall comfort.

“As some may already know, I’ve been battling nose issues for a while and it got worse over the summer, especially in DC,” she tweeted. “This problem made it difficult to breathe and even worse on the nights I was crossing [a] completely blocked nose.
