Italian table tennis star donates equipment to sports commission – The Sun Nigeria
An Italy-based professional table tennis player, Tobi Falana, has donated kits and equipment to the Kwara State Sports Commission.
Falana presented the kit to the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Malam Bola Mogaji, in the conference room at the state stadium complex in Ilorin.
During the presentation ceremony, Falana said he was giving back to society because someone had given to pave the way for him to play table tennis abroad.
Falana, who plays with the Casamassima table tennis club in Bari, Italy, said he decided to help the community and promote the sport that made him.
“Four years ago, I contacted Haruna Quadri to ask if he could help me with some material, and he did.
“I told him I want to play better, he didn’t know me anywhere but messaged me saying I had to meet him at his house, he gave me training kits.
“The garment he gave me six years ago is still there, I came with that gear too,” Falana said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Falana, who recently lost her mother, has praised the Chairman of the Kwara State Table Tennis Association, Mr Shola Owolabi, who, he said, had been there for him since his father died years ago.
He said Owolabi had been his pillar of support.
Members of the Kwara State Sports Commission headed by Mogaji and those of the state Table Tennis Association hailed the player’s initiative.
Mogaji said he was excited about the donation, adding that it was commendable to give to society. (NOPE)
