Inside Ash Barty’s dream wedding: plans revealed after tennis star got engaged to Garry Kissick

She announced the exciting news that she was engaged to her five-year-old boyfriend Garry Kissick earlier this month.

And now the golden tennis girl Ash Barty, 25, is planning the wedding of her dreams.

According to Woman’s day magazine, the world number 1 will most likely have a big beach wedding and marry Kissick on the island of North Stradbroke.

The location holds a very special place in Barty’s heart, as the sports star spent several family vacations on the island as a child.

The publication also speculates that Barty will wear a dress created by Brisbane designer Wendy Makin, who made her sister Ali’s dress when she married her husband several years ago.

Makin told Woman’s Day that she would love to design Barty’s dream dress.

“I actually designed her sister Ali’s dress five years ago,” Wendy told Woman’s Day.

“I have been a wedding designer for 40 years and to have the opportunity to work with Ash would be a privilege. She is such a wonderful model, and she conducts herself with such grace, she is going to make a beautiful bride! I would focus on simple, elegant lines – you don’t want to take away from its beauty.

As for her wedding party, Women’s Day says Barty’s sisters, nieces and nephews and even the couple’s two companion dogs will play an important role.

“She will bring together the best people, from her sisters to her mother,” a close family friend told the magazine.

Barty announced her engagement to Kissick in an Instagram post earlier this month, sharing two photos of the pair snuggled together, with her diamond ring on display.

She wrote in the caption “Future Husband”, next to a ring emoji.

Golfer Gary, 29, also shared the footage on his own social media, revealing that the couple actually got engaged a week earlier, on November 15.

He wrote in his caption: “11/15/2021 I love you @ashbarty”.

The Australian tennis star met Gary at Brooklands Golf Club in Queensland in 2016 on a round of golf, and they’ve been together ever since.

The champion reached the year-end world rankings for the third consecutive year, equaling Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf and Serena Williams.

She led Australia to a second place finish at the 2019 Fed Cup and won a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
