Coco Gauff visited TwitchCon in San Diego, where the tennis star was continually mistaken for a streamer

  • On Sunday, American tennis star Coco Gauff paid a visit to the TwitchCon streaming convention.
  • While there, she said she was continually taken for a banner.

Coco Gauff may be one of the most famous stars in tennis these days, but when she visited the TwitchCon streaming convention on Sunday, she was just a face in the crowd.

“A lot of people would look at my badge and be like, ‘Are you a streamer?'” Gauff, who is an avid Twitch and YouTube fan, told WTA Tennis.

“I said I was here for a tennis tournament, but I saw this next door and I thought, ‘I want to go. “”

Although she was not recognized, she still had a whirlwind at the event in San Diego.

“I got to see some of the people I’ve watched online for years in person,” the 18-year-old said. “I got to meet some of my favorite designers.

“I had a great time and was glad I got to go.”

Gauff attributes watching Twitch and YouTube to his recent fine form on the court.

“I’m less stressed,” the American, who is a career world No. 8 after her run to the French Open final and the US Open quarters, told WTA Tennis.

“It was a big transition for me because I felt like I was surrounding my life with tennis.

“I realized that I had other interests and it was good to accept them,” she added. “I started doing that in Paris, that’s where it all started for me, and I found that my results were much better. I realized that was the complete opposite of what I needed TO DO.”

At TwitchCon, Gauff was able to meet his favorite streamers, including Valkyrae – a prominent Fortnite player who was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 2022 list.

Gauff shared a photo with Valkyrae on Twittercalling the encounter one of his “top three favorite moments” of all time.

“Thank you for being so kind and spreading so much positivity to the world,” she said of Valkyrae, real name Rachell Hofstetter. “You are such a light.”
