DURHAM- On Wednesday, the Duke women’s tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth released the 2023 calendar, which starts on January 13 in Durham.

The 2023 slate includes 15 home games to be played at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center or Ambler Tennis Stadium, a venue where Duke boasts a 69-2 record over the past six years.

Duke opens action Jan. 13 against former Blue Devils assistant coach Michelle Dasso and the Furman Paladins. The Blue Devils will play eight consecutive home games to open the season. This includes Duke hosting the ITA launch weekend on January 28-29. Duke hosts VCU on January 28, while also hosting SMU and Wisconsin. On Jan. 29, the consolation game is scheduled to be played at 10 a.m., followed by the championship game at 2 p.m.

The Blue Devils close their homestand on February 4 against Harvard and NC Central with Georgetown (February 5).

If the Blue Devils win kickoff weekend, Duke will play in the National Team Indoors, which runs Feb. 10-13 in Seattle, Wash.

Duke offers seven ACC home games – Notre Dame (March 3), Louisville (March 5), Northwestern (March 22), Miami (March 31), Florida State (April 1), Wake Forest (April 6) and NC State (April 8).

The Blue Devils open league plays on the road at Virginia Tech (February 24) and Virginia (February 26), with five other ACC road games rounding out the away roster – Clemson (March 10), Georgia Tech (March 12), Syracuse (March 24), Boston College (March 26) and North Carolina (April 14).

The ACC Championship will be held April 19-23 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina

Ashworth returns five letter winners from his 2022 ACC Championship team that also qualified for the NCAA Final Four for the 11th time under his leadership. A pair of All-Americans – Chloe Beck and Georgia Drum – highlight returns for the Blue Devils. Duke added three high profile transfers to the mix as Cameron Morra, Iuliia Bryzgalova and Brianna Shvets joined the team in the fall with freshman Katie Codd.

The Next Gen ATP Finals have arrived in Milan with a tantalizing line-up of young players hoping to emulate last year’s champion.

Carlos Alcaraz won the event in 2021 and went on to achieve world No. 1 status after a meteoric rise in 2022.

The Spanish star will not take part in this tournament – designed for players under the age of 21 – as he was due to take part in the full senior edition of the ATP Finals. However, an injury means he won’t take part in this tournament either.

Day one of the Next Gen ATP Finals will see top-seeded Lorenzo Musetti take on Chun-Hsin Tseng in a home opener, before rising American star Brandon Nakashima takes the stage against Matteo Arnaldi.

UK fans will be delighted to see Jack Draper in action as he climbed to 47th in the world rankings and prepares to crack the top 32 in 2023, a prospect unthinkable until now.

The WTA Tour Finals have provided plenty of drama so far and it’s only day two of action in Fort Worth, TX.

Tuesday’s line-up looks similarly unpredictable as world No. 1 Iga Swiatek prepares to face Daria Kasatkina, who slipped into the qualifying spots at the last moment.

Arguably the most exciting match of the day will see rising US megastar Coco Gauff take on Caroline Garcia as she looks to end 2022 on a high.

The ATP Finals will take place in Turin in a few weeks, but first it’s time for the WTA Finals, which will see the top eight ranked players on the Women’s Tour battle it out for the title.

The tournament favorite is Swiątek, after the 21-year-old Pole dominated the circuit this year. She has won two of the four Grand Slams on offer and enjoyed an incredible 37-match winning streak – the longest of the 21st century.
