Adelaide International Tennis Results Ash Barty defeats Sofia Kenin

Australia’s Ash Barty has advanced to the semi-finals of the Adelaide International after beating American Sofia Kenin in straight sets, 6-3 6-4.

Barty only needed 67 minutes to secure the game, dominating on serve with Kenin struggling to match him with the world number one.

The Australian landed 17 aces to accompany a 94% first serve winning percentage.

“What a performance… it was quite an extraordinary performance,” former Australian tennis star Jelena Dokic said in a comment for Nine.

Kenin, the 2020 Australian Open champion, struggled on serve for much of the match with just a 63% first serve and 44% second serve winning percentage.

Barty today managed to kick off his international campaign in Adelaide two-on-two after beating teenage star Coco Gauff earlier in the week.

“I felt pretty good today. I was able to take care of my service games quite well and it was a lot of fun playing here and having more time on the pitch,” Barty said after the match. match.

Barty will meet reigning tournament champion and French Open 2020 winner Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals.

Swiatek beat two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 tonight.
